A: Visit the Download Link and download the patch (.ppf) file along with PPF-O-Matic. Make sure to grab the appropriate versions. Open PPF-O-Matic and under "ISO FILE" or "IMAGE" select your Unmodified FFT ISO or Image. Under "PATCH" select the 1.3 .ppf file. Hit "APPLY" and play. [1.2] Q: What is FFT1.3? A: FFTV1.3 is a fan-made modification of the game Final Fantasy Tactics for the Play Station and Play Station Portable gaming systems. [1.3] Q: What does FFT1.3 change about the game? A: There's thousands of minor changes that add up to big differences. The complete list is found in this document. Generally speaking, 1.3 increases difficulty, adds new random battles to the world map and Deep Dungeon, improves monsters, and re-balances the skills and items to make the game more fun and challenging. [1.4] Q: Is there a FFT1.3 for PSP? A: Yes. The changes unique to the PSP version of 1.3 can also be found on this same document. Every feature specific to War of the Lions was looked at. [1.5] Q: Who created FFT1.3? A: Zodiac, Melonhead, Philsov, Lasting_Dawn, Asmo, and Archael created this mod. Many others contributed in making it what it is today, though. You can find the full list of contributors at the end of this document. [1.6] Q: What is FFT v1.2? A: FFT v1.2 started thanks to the efforts of a nice young man named Philsov. With it, Philsov went beyond all the theory crafting and speculating about how FFT could be made better and actually tried his hand at modifying the game. He was careful about balancing the game and keeping his mod faithful to the original. This made his work different from the usual changes people make to their games, which are done simply for personal enjoyment. Now with FFTV1.3 we aim simply to breathe life once again into the game that we all know and love. [1.7] Q: What is an ISO? A: You can play FFT 1.3 by modifying the files inside a FFT ISO. The FFT ISO is the actual files that make up the game. The patch is applied to the files and then the game is played. You can get a FFT.iso from your PSX FFT CD using various programs or from your War of the Lions cartridge if you're on PSP. You can play 1.3 on your computer using an emulator, a modded Play Station or a modded Play Station Portable. [1.8] Q: How do I set up an emulator to play 1.3? A: Many different settings on many different emulators can run 1.3 perfectly. There are emulators for both PC and Mac, as well as versions of 1.3 for both systems. Please post your emulator information in the 1.3 forum if you need help. [1.9] Q: How do I know my game is patched with 1.3? A: Instead of the Sony Computer Entertainment America screen, you'll see a logo that says FINAL FANTASY TACTICS 1.3 along with the version number of the patch and the ffhacktics.com website. [1.10] Q: How can I record FFT videos? A: First you need a video capture program. Camtasia is recomended for PC, and iShowU and Snapz Pro X for Mac. (PSP) Tynar Rouge [5.4] Stealing From Elmdor To Steal From Elmdor: A FFT 1.3 Advanced Guide To Steal The Genji Gear By Dokurider Stealing from Elmdor, one of hardest challenges in FFT, original or 1.3. It has caused so many gamers to waste countless hours contemplating strategies and watching said strategies go up in flames. Many just soft reset, hoping they hit that lucky spot. Many just give up and Counter-Magic Elmdor to death. Stealing the Genji Gear can be and typical is a long and tedious experience, but it doesnt have to be. This guide describes what just might be the best way to steal from Elmdor. Stealing the Genji Gear starts not at Limberry Castle itself, but at the very beginning of the game. When selecting Ramzas birthday, select any date between November 22 and December 20. This will make Ramza a Sagittarius. But why make Ramza a Sagittarius? What difference will it make? Because male Sagittarians have the worst compatibility with male Gemini. Elmdor is a male Gemini. The fact that male Sagittarians and male Gemini have terrible compatibility is the very key to stealing from Elmdor. Just having one person with terrible compat isnt enough to make this strategy work. What is needed is that everyone in the party has to be a male Sagittarius. Having terrible compatibility will cut damage in half (It does a better job protecting you then a combination of protect/shell and Defense UP/MDefense UP, actually.), at no cost to you, item or support slot wise. Very important. In order to steal from Elmdor, you must press the right buttons on the AI and have the right preparations to handle their reactions. With the need for proper protection covered, more powerful setups are available. The following setups are recommended: First unit Draw Out Strongest Weapon Item - Speed Save Strongest Helmet Anything Strongest Armor Teleport or Move-HP UP Jade Armlet, 108 Gems or N-Kai Armlet This unit is your primary healing unit, using Murasame to counteract Chirijaden and maybe the occasionally Kiyomori (though it may not be desirable at times). You may also use this unit to finish off assassins and demons. Offensive Draw-Outs wont see much use here. Items presence is obvious. Your Reaction will be Speed Save. Speed Save is the key to stealing from Elmdor smoothly. With one exception, Speed Save will be what youll have on all your units. Teleport is the desired movement skill here, but Move-HP UP can be used to great success. You can have anything you want as a support skill. You may choose any three accessories, though 108 Gems is possible the best choice, as it eliminates Blood Suck as a factor. Second Unit Jump Holy Lance, Dragon Whisker or Javelin II Item or Steal - Speed Save Strongest Helmet Two Hands Strongest Armor Teleport, Move-HP UP Jade Armlet, 108 Gems or N-Kai Armlet Or Move +3 This unit is your main attack unit. Use him to deal massive damage to assassins and demons, while circumventing most offensive reactions like Hamedo and Counter that said targets may have. He is also your hardiest unit. You wonÕt be using Jump here. Choosing Steal over Item is a dangerous gamble, losing a hand in reviving, but gaining a hand in stealing. A Speed Saved hand. Two Hands is a must to do significant damage. Teleport/Move +3 is preferred over Move-HP UP here. Move +3 is allowable here as it is not as critical to get to places as it is for the first unit (the Samurai). If you are stealing, Teleport is desirable, as it allows him to get to Elmdors back and sides to steal. The Samurai needs teleport so that he can around obstacles to heal. Again, between the three choices for the accessory slot, 108 gems might be the best choice. Its even more so if you are using a Holy Spear. Third Unit Punch Art Steal Hamedo Two Swords Depends Teleport or Move +3 Jade Armlet, 108 Gems, or N-Kai Armlet This unit is your second attack unit. He also deals massive damage to the enemy, but cant circumvent offensive reactions. Hes also a support unit as youll be using Chakra, Revive, and to lesser extent, Stigma Magic. Steal is a low priority for him, but still an option when he has nothing better to do. He may use Steal Heart as minor disruption tactic. Hamedo and Two Swords are critical pieces to this strategy and very critical in determining what happens in the first turn, so they are an absolute must. Its important for this unit to be mobile, so either Teleport or Move +3. What you have as armor is important, as it must elicit the preferred response from the assassins, but still be enough to keep you alive. If they cant kill you in one attack, theyll do Seal, Shadow Stitch or Allure. Again, between Jade Armlet, 108 Gems and N-Kai Armlet, 108 Gems is preferred. Fourth Unit Steal Any Knife (Preferable Air Knife) Item Speed Save Thief Hat (Maybe Flash Hat) Monster Skill Strongest Armor Teleport, Move +3 Vanish Mantle Or Move HP UP This unit is your primary stealing unit and support unit. Until Speed Save kicks in and overtakes Elmdor, he is your maintenance man, keeping units alive and healthy. He can also be used to finish off really weak units, and using Steal Heart as a minor disruption tactic versus Demons. It is very important that he knows Elixir and that you have Elixirs, at least 5 of them. Its also important to have maxed out Phoenix Downs, Remedies, and X-Potions. You also need lots of Holy Water. At least 50. Monster Skill is necessary to use Chicken. Getting to Elmdors vunerable sides isnt necessary with this unit as Thieves have Innate Concentrate, so pick freely between Move +3, Teleport and Move-HP UP. Initially, its very important for this unit to stick to the Black Chocobo, reviving him and healing him. Air Knife is the preferred weapon here as it allows him to POSSIBLY snag a Ribbon(s) from the Assassins, otherwise, any knife will do. Any weapon or any hat, actually. As all you actually need to do is go before the Black Chocobo and heal him to full health. Finally, Vanish Mantle is needed here to avoid being attacked on the first turn. Fifth Unit Black Chocobo The Black Chocobo is the primary attack unit. Use it to really lay down the hurt on enemies. Its Monster Skill, Chicken, is necessary to speed up the steal process (as a bonus, it also destroys Elmdors Attack). This unit should treated as a sacrificial unit. After youve killed off the Assassins and Demons, and Chickend Elmdor, it should not be saved. Maybe try flying it to a safe corner, otherwise dont save it. Keeping a chocobo alive that isnt doing anything will do nothing but drag you down, so let him die. Now that you know what units you need are and what roles they will play, you will next need to know what you need to do in the actual battle. The battle itself consists of several objectives. The first objective of this battle is to kill the assassins. The first thing you will need to do is to correct arrange your units to elicit the ideal response from the AI. The arrangement should go as follows: The first unit (the Samurai) needs to go in the very upper left corner, like on the front line, behind the fire thing. The third unit (the Monk) needs to go right next to the Samurai, placing him directly in front of one of the assassins, the one that goes first, actually. The second unit (the Lancer) needs to go right next to the second unit. The fourth unit (the Thief) needs to go right next to the second unit. Finally, the fifth unit (the Black Chocobo) needs to go directly behind the second unit. The monk is placed in front of the first assassin so that she can easily get to him. If she can just walk up to him and kill him with attack, she will. Her attack will (hopefully) trigger the Monks Hamedo, and hopefully, both attacks will connect. If not, reset. Next, Elmdor will teleport right behind your Monk and perform Chirijiraden and nail all your units except your Thief. Finally, the second assassin will come up two panels away from the previous assassin and charge Ultima. (Note: Ultimas AoE boost may have effected what the second assassin does, so beware. I doubt anything has changed, but still.) Now its your turn, with the Thief. The thief must use Elixir on the Black Chocobo. Next should be the Monk. The Monk needs to either finish off the assassin he attacked or attack the charging one. If this step fails, reset. Then the Lancer should be up next. The Lancer needs to attack one of the assassins. If this step fails, reset. Same goes for the Black Chocobo. Lastly, the Samurai should heal everyone he can. The next objective is to kill the demons. Unlike the first objective, this step is much more random, dependant on what the demons do. Its also the hardest. Tips include: -If you are going to attack a demon, always make sure you can kill it. Mostly by confirming if a strong allys turn is right after yours. -Trying charming demons. Now they will cast Lifebreak on themselves, but theyÕll only do that if they have nothing better to do. If they can attack someone, they will. If they cast Lifebreak on themselves and a strong ally turn comes up, help them die. Even if you dont get to, youve still wasted their turn. -Dont spread out. The more you spread out, the harder it gets to revive and heal everyone, which may lead to critical failure of your strategy and you lose. When youve killed off the demons, your Black Chocobo needs to complete his final act: Chickening Elmdor. One Chicken will do the trick. Then, just let him die. (A word of caution, make sure the demons are little more than crystals and treasure before you let your Chocobo die. Elmdor can revive.) Now comes the next objective: Tanking Chijiraden. All you have to do is to tank Chirijiraden until Speed Save has made you fast enough. Not too difficult, but its not too uncommon to have some close calls. Finally, an extra tip: avoid using Kiyomori. Hell stop using Chiri and start using Blood Suck instead, defeating the purpose of Speed Save. After Speed Save has kicked in and even out the speed difference, if not put it in your favor, its time for the main objective: the actual stripping of Elmdor. Everyone has heard this advice before, steal the shield first, steal the weapon last. The final objective is surprisingly difficult, kill Elmdor. Its surprising in that his fighting back is somewhat effective, but definitely not enough to be lethal. Congratulations, youve have robbed Elmdor blind. Some additional notes: Since Chemists gained innate Equip Change, Chemists could be an alternative to Thieves, for their ability to trade Vanish Mantle for 108 Gems. Finally, Sagittarius rules and every other sign drools.
